Background: In the past, hospitals in the United States have had to spend more than 100,000 dollars on equipment for locating brain tumours. But a new device, developed in Arizona, has cut these costs dramatically. The new "brain chair" does all the work of more expensive equipment -- and costs a mere 10,000 dollars.

The chair has been developed to rotate. At the same time, the brain is X-rayed by a rotating cassette. This simple process, never before perfected, avoids the possibility of the X-rays being blurred by a movement of the patient. A National Broadcasting Company crew has filmed the new "brain chair" in operation.
