President Kaunda's new book "A Letter to my Children is for all Zambian youth, Power, Transport and Works Minister Mr. Mulikita said at the launching ceremony in Lusaka last Friday (July 27).
The Ministers said the book carried an important message for the country's youth and urged parents to encourage their children to read it.
Dr. Kaunda's first book was called "A Humanist in Africa". Mr. Mulikita said "A Letter to my Children" had the same warm hearted serenity of approach and revealed the President's strong personal philosophy, deep faith in God and love of humanity.
The Zambian Sunday Times is serialising the book and one instalment about freedom has already appeared. President Kaunda writes, "The truly free man is not at liberty to do as he likes. His values, his scruples and fundamental goals place limitations on what he can do with himself and his gifts."
Mr. Steven Tembo, Zambian managing director of the publisher, presented the President's wife, Mrs. Betty Kaunda with twelve copies of the book. Mrs. Kaunda said her children would now understand why their father did not spare some time for them.
President Kaunda could not attend the launching ceremony because he was in Zaire having talks with President Mobutu Sese Seko and Tanzania's President Nyerere.
