    Background: MORE THAN 70 SHIPS OF BRITAIN'S ROYAL NAVY ARE CURRENTLY ANCHORED IN THE RIVER CLYDE FOR THE TWO-DAY VISIT OF QUEEN ELIZABETH.THE WARSHIPS, DRESSED OVERALL, RANGE FROM SUPPLY SHIPS AND FRIGATES TO THE 22,000 TON AIRCRAFT CARRIER "CENTAUR" AND THE NUCLEAR SUBMARINE "DREADNOUGHT".

    THE VISIT, THE FIRST TIME THE QUEEN HAS REVIEWED THE HOME FLEET SINCE 1957, BEGAN THIS MORNING WHEN THE QUEEN AND PRINCE PHILIP, WITH THEIR THREE ELDEST CHILDREN, ARRIVED IN THE ROYAL YACHT "BRITANNIA".

    THE QUEEN JOINED THE FLEET AS LORD HIGH ADMIRAL, A TITLE WHICH REVERTED TO HER WHEN THE ADMIRALTY WAS MERGED WITH THE DEFENCE MINISTRY LAST YEAR.SHE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY ADMIRAL LORD MOUNTBATTEN, WHO RETIRED RECENTLY AS BRITAIN'S CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF.

    ABOARD THE GUIDED MISSILE DESTROYER "KENT", THE SHIP'S COMPANY WAS DRAWN UP ON THE QUARTERDECK.ACCOMPANIED BY THE COMMANDING OFFICER, CAPT, R.A.BEGG, THE QUEEN SPOKE TO REPRESENTATIVES OF EVERY DEPARTMENT.

    SHE VISITED THE MISSILES ROOM, DECKS, DINING HALL, AND SHIP'S GALLEY AND THEN LEFT IN THE ROYAL BARGE FOR THE FRIGATE "DIDO".

    THE QUEEN AND PRINCE PHILIP VISITED THREE OTHER VESSELS, INCLUDING THE "DENTAUR" AND THE NUCLEAR SUBMARINE "DREADNOUGHT".TONIGHT SHE DINED WITH HER OFFICERS IN THE CRUISER "LION".
