    THE 34-STRONG AMERICAN DELEGATION WAS HEADED BY COLONEL JOHN MACINDOE OF THE U.S. NATIONAL WAR COLLEGE.

    BESIDES GETTING A FIRST HAND VIEW OF POLICE TRAINING, THE AMERICANS MET IVORY COAST ARMY LEADERS FOR TALKS DURING THEIR 48-HOUR STAY.

    THEY ALSO GLIMPSED SOMETHING OF THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMICAL AND INDUSTRIAL ACHIEVEMENTS, AND HELD DISCUSSIONS WITH GOVERNMENT MINISTER, INCLUDING FINANCE AND ECONOMIC MINISTER HENRI KONAN BEDIE.

    COLONEL MACHINDOE'S GROUP, WHICH GOES ON TO VISIT CONGO-KINSHASA, ZAMBIA, KENYA AND ETHIOPIA, IS ONE OF FIVE AMERICAN FACT- FINDING MISSIONS LARGELY MADE UP OF OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE NATIONAL WAR COLLEGE. THE OTHER FOUR ARE CURRENTLY TOURING LATIN AMERICA, THE FAR EAST, THE MIDDLE EAST AND EUROPE.
