Background: The Emir of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa Bin Sulman Al-Khalifa, landed at Orly Airport on Monday (1 March), where he was greeted by the French President Monsieur Valery Giscard d'Estaing. The Emir is mon a three day official visit to France.
The 43-year-old Emir arrived three hours late because a bomb scare delayed his plane in Beirut. Nothing was found. However, security at Orly Airport was strict.
The French Government greeted his arrival with full military honours. The French President said in a welcoming message that he looked forward to a strengthening of the co-operation between France and Bahrain.
In his reply, the Emir said that his visit would consolidate existing relations between Bahrain and France.
