"We at Visnews are officially a newsfilm agency, and it might be worth looking for the moment at why the agencies exist. It's a simple story, and an obvious story. No newspaper in the world --- let us think now in terms of world news agencies Associated Press, United Press, Reuters and so on --- no newspaper in the world is rich enough to have a reporter in every town, city and village in the world where a news event might happen. This is ovious. Therefore the only way of getting that news is to have the services of an organisation which, because it works for a whole lot of newspapers, can afford to have a reporter in every town, city and village in the world, practically. And that is what the old time, the word news agencies did. Those of you who have travelled widely, and obviously most of you have, know the news headlines in newspapers around the world will vary from country to country. One country is interested in one set of stories, another country is interested in another set of stories. We have to be interested in all of them. We have to be ready to cover any story of any interest to any subscriber anywhere in the world".



"I am Demet Gulez from Turkey. What I'd like to know is -- is that sometimes a cameraman is not permitted to go into that country. If by any chance he does that and he goes into that country, does he lose the film which he makes? And what happens if he do?



"That would depend entirely on the attitude of the country concerned. We would consider it to be our duty to report factually whatever news we can cover. If the country concerned took the attitude afterwards that because we had reported that piece of news they would not allow us into that country again we would obviously regret it, but we would have to accept their ruling. We would have no other alternative. But we would still think it our duty to get, in any way possible, factual news coverage out of that country.
