ALI: "For the good co-operation which we found in the negotiations these two days, and we are longing to go on the implementation of the treaty and I think this spirit which prevailed at the negotiations give a very bright future of co-operation in the following months. Thank you."
WEIZMAN: "Thank you, General Ali and General Dadawai. I am happy I have nothing to add on what my colleague the Minister of defence has just said because I can just repeat exactly the same of the good co-operation that I have received from our Egyptian counter-part.
And we are looking forward to early on an start working on what we have promised each other.

Background: A two-day round of talks held in Cairo between Defence Ministers Mr. Ezer Weizman of Israel and General hassan Ali of Egypt ended on Friday (27 April) with a news conference. General Ali commented on a recent Palestinian raid on an Israeli town. He said he hoped the attacks on North Israel and subsequently the Israeli retaliations would stop, thus paving the way for negotiations on Palestinian autonomy. Mr. Weizman said Israel is unfortunately at war with the PLO and he could not at this stage foresee the Palestinians moving to end the war.
