  • Description

Japanese Golfer Haruo Yasuda won the 1972 Taiwan Open Championship in Taipei on Sunday ( 9 April) after beating Kuo Chi-hsing of Taiwan in a sudden death playoff.

More than a thousand spectators were at the Tamsui Taiwan Golf Club for the final day of the Championships. Although the final scores were up spectular, some fine golf was produced during the day.

Yaruo Yasuda is only the second foreign player to have won the Taiwan Open Golf Championships since they were started in 1968. He turned in a final score of 284, as did Taiwan's Kuo chi-hsiung, before the playoff.

There had been a steady ten-knot wind during the final day's play which many players blamed for the low scores.

From Taiwan, the Asian Golf Circuit moves to Seoul this week, and will end in Tokyo on April the 23rd.
