Background: Mr. Gough Whitlam, leader of Australia's Opposition Labour Party met Chancellor Willy Brandt at the Palais Schaumburg in Bonn on Monday (17 January).
Mr. Whitlam is in the course of a European tour which is providing him with the opportunity to meet and talk with leaders of several Common Market Countries. (On Saturday 22nd January, Britain will move a step nearer to becoming an official member of the Common Market, when it signs the Treaty of Rome.) Mr. Whitlam was accompanied in Bonn by Mr. Ralph Harry the Australian Ambassador there.
