    HIGH-POINT MAN FOR ATLANTA WAS JOE COGWELL WHO REBOUNDED HIS OWN SHOT FOR TWO OF HIS TOTAL OF 38 POINTS.

    AS THE HAWKS KEPT ADDING TO THEIR SCORE, BAYLOR TRIED TO COUNTER FOR THE LAKERS, HITTING FROM THE TOP OF THE CIRCLE. HE SCORED 20 POINTS DURING THE CONTEST BUT THE HAWKS BUILT UP A 22 POINT LEAD TO COAST HOME TO VICTORY. JIM DAVIS HIT ONE OF THE FINISHERS SCORING 16 AS ATLANTA BEAT LOS ANGELES 118 TO 106.

    THE WIN UPPED THE HAWKS FIRST-PLACE LEAD IN THE WEST TO 3 GAMES.
