  • Description

Jordan is opposed to violence and willing to join international measures to protect civilians -- but occupied people have the right to resist occupation. That was the message Jordan's Foreign Minister, Mr. Salah Abu Zeid, delivered to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday (October 4).

He said Israel's present policies made conflict inevitable, and total war would mean devastation of the entire area.

The Minister also complained of Israel's occupation of Jerusalem and what he called "systematic efforts to transform its unique identity".

SYNOPSIS: In the United Nations debate on terrorism, Jordanian Foreign Minister, Salah Abu Zeid, outlined his country's attitude to acts of terrorist violence.
