    Indonesian President Suharto opened his five-day unofficial visit to Japan on Wednesday (10 May) with a first meeting with Prime Minister Eisaku Sato at his official residence in Tokyo.

    President Suharto presented his Japanese host with a tankful of tropical fish. The two leaders then talked for over an hour, discussing international and bilateral matters.

    It was reported that the two men had discussed the general international situation, including developments centred in Asia. They'd also reportedly been talking about Japanese economic aid to Indonesia as well as more general relations between the two countries.

    The two leaders will meet again on Friday (12 May), after which it's expected they'll issue a communique.

    During his visit, the Indonesian leader is expected to discuss a new loan agreement under which Japan will provide the equivalent of some eighty million Pounds Sterling for developing Indonesia's oil resources.

The two leaders then talked for over an hour, discussing international and bilateral issues.
