Background: On the first leg of his tour of Asian countries, President Ayub Khan of Pakistan arrived in Rangoon Dec 1, the capital of Burma with which east Pakistan has a border.
To welcome him at the airport were the Burmese President U Win Maung, Premier U Nu, top officials, diplomats and a large gathering of Muslims in Burma.
After the four-day visit to Burma, President Ayub will visit Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan before returning to Pakistan.
This will be the first time the President has visited countries east of India. He had been earlier to the United Kingdom, and United Arab Republic.
