THE 152-MILE (244 KILOMETRES) FORMULA ONE EVENT WAS THE LAST BIG RACE BEFORE THE EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX SEASON OPENS ON MAY 7 WITH THE MONACO GRAND PRIX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RACE.

PARKES, IN A NEW V12-ENGINED FERRARI TOOK THE LEAD FROM THE START AND COMPLETED THE COURSE 16 SECONDS AHEAD OF HIS NEAREST RIVAL, JACK BRABHAM, AUSTRALIA'S WORLD CHAMPION.
