    Egypt's special envoy Mohammed Hassan El Zayyat brought a message from President Sadat to President Pompidou of France on Monday (November 5) and said that France had a special position in Egypt and the Arab world, thank to its well balanced policy since 1967.

    Dr. Zayyat told reporters after a 75 minutes meeting with French Foreign Minister Michel Jobert that France also had a special position in Europe and in the U.N. Security Council.

    "For these reasons I have come as President Sadat's special envoy", he said.

    Dr. Zayyat's mission to Europe which will include a meeting with British Prime Minister Edward Heath in London on Wednesday (November 7) is designed to involve Europe in efforts to get a just Middle East settlement.

    After Monday's meeting M. Jobert went straight to the Elysee Palace to report to President Pompidou. He than planned to fly to Brussels to inform France's Common Market partners of the outcome of the Middle East talks. Later Dr. Zayyat met President Pompidou and said their talks were "very important, very sincere and in great depth."
