On March 31st, shortly before noon, a special plane from Moscow landed at Ruzyne airport; on board were Marshal Abdullah Sallal, President of the Yemen Arab Republic, and his suite, who arrived at the invitation of the President of the Czechoslovak Republic.

The distinguished guest was welcomed by members of the presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakian - President of the Republic Antonin Novotny, Premier Jozef Lenart, Chairman of the National Assembly Zdenek Fierlincer, members of the government and other foremost representatives of Czechoslovak political and public life. After having reviewed the guard of honour at the airfield, President Antonin Novotny and Marshal Abdullah Sallal in their welcoming speeches expressed their satisfaction that co-operation between the two countries is developing favourably.
After the welcoming ceremony at the airport the Yemen guests, accompanied by leading Czechoslovak personages, drove to the Prague Castle through the flagged streets of the capital.
Shortly before half past twelve, welcoming shouts could be heard from thousands of Prague citizens who had assembled at the square in front of the Prague Castle. The Yemen statesmen arrived at his temporary residence in Prague. On the first Castle yard the distinguished guest received the report by the commander of the guard of honour. The President of the Yemen Arab Republic Marshal Abdullah Sallal, accompanied by the President of Czechoslovakia Antonin Novotny, reviewed the guard of honour.
Later on the President of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic Antonin Novotny received the Yemen guest in the ceremonial hall of the Prague Castle.
The minister of foreign affairs Mr. Vaclav David also attended the reception.
After the welcoming ceremony both statesmen repaired to the Brozik hall where they had a lengthy and friendly conference in which the members of the Yemen President's suite also took part.
