A Rumanian delegation led by Mr. Ion Patan, Vice Premier and Chairman of the Rumanian?
A Rumanian delegation led by Mr. Ion Patan, Vice Premier and Chairman of the Rumanian Council of Ministers, had talks on Congolese economic development in Brazzaville between the 13th. and 16th. of May.
During their stay the Rumanians also visited a number of economic projects in the Congolese interior.
The Rumanians are taking a growing interest in Congo-Brazzaville, and are reported to be specially interested in the timber and oil industries.
SYNOPSIS: In Brazzaville, Congo Republic, between the 13th. and 16th. of May a visiting Rumanian economic mission had a series of talks with Congolese leaders, including President Marien Ngouabi.
A joint communique on the talks issued by both sides stressed the importance of "harnessing material and human resources for the economic and social progress of every state."
The Rumanians, led by Vice-Premier Ion Patan, visited a number of economic development projects in the interior of the Congo Republic during their stay. Rumania is especially interested in the development of the Congolese timber and oil industry, and these industries were almost certainly discussed in the joint talks. Very little information was release however, although an aide-memoir was signed setting out the economic problems of joint concern.
