Background: A seminar on the development and dissemination of technologies appropriate for rural areas opened on July 17 at the University of Science and Technology at Kumasi in Ghana. It is being attended by experts from Ghana, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria and Germany. The seminar will last eleven days. The object is to exchange ideas and experiences about the problems involved in the development of rural areas. The seminar was opened by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. E. Evans-Anfom.
