Background: A fish collector's club - through which members exchange eggs dried by a special process and hatch them later in water -- has been formed by Colonel Sheel of the Danish Army.

Colonel Sheel has been an enthusiastic aquarian since boyhood and recently discovered this new method of preserving fish eggs. To form a regular exchange of fish among fellow collectors, he started the club - now 80-strong, - with members in many European countries and Japan, Hongkong and Thailand.

The fish are kept in a special aquarium, filled with water from off the coast of Africa and South America. Thus the fish can grow in their natural habitat until they breed. The eggs, when dried, can be kept for years and yet still hatch. After soaking in water for a few hours -- the baby fish emerge.

Club members receive their consignments by air mail - but even postage by ship makes no difference to the dried eggs.

This exchange of fish eggs has intrigued Professor Paul of the Curie laboratory, Paris. Now he too receives samples from Col. Sheel and tests the eggs to discover how the drying process is made possible.
