    Gerry Sobers, the young West Indian Test cricketer, has beaten Sir Leonard Hutton's world Test cricket batting record of 364 by hitting 365 not out in the third Test against Pakistan at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. The 21 year old left hander has been playing Test cricket for four years but has never before scored a century for West Indies. This score gave him his 1000 runs in Test matches. Sobers, who hit 38 fours, batted until the end of the fourth day's play, a total of 10 hours and eight minutes compared with Sir Leonard's 13 hours and 20 minutes. A record crowd of 20,000 watched the record-breaking performance.
