    An exhibition of thirty-eight of the finest paintings from the collection of the late Calouste Gulbenkian was opened to the public Oct 6 in the Gulbenkian residence in the Avenue d'Iena, Paris. One of the first visitors was M. Andre Malraux, the French Minister of Culture.

    Destined eventually for the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal, the paintings, many of which have been on loan to the Washington National Gallery, USA, include some fine Guardis, a Gainsborough and a Hoppner, three Rembrandts bought from the Leningrad Museum in the 1930's and a wide selection of works by French artists Corot, Monet and Renoir.
