  • Description

In the Century Room at the Commodore Hotel on 42nd St in the heart of New York City, press men and commentators from all over the world gathered today to see the arrival of Ingmar Johannsen and Floyd Patterson, who will fight tonight at the polo grounds for the return bout of the heavyweight championship of the world.

As usual, it was a rough day for cameramen, who crowded round the podium erected especially for the weigh in.

The yells were astronomical as Ingmar Johannsen came in - "turn this way, turn that way". Hardly any attention was paid to Floyd Patterson who came in behind the champion. After the weigh in, when General Krulewzek and Commissioner Farley Jnr, officiated, the fighters left the room.

Patterson returned to answer questions from reporters compelled by the photographers yells to sit on the floor. Johannsen, temperamental as ever, refused to return to answer questions. Patterson said he had not eaten all day, would take a steak around three o'clock. His chances at the fight he quoted as "very good".
