A Yugoslav basketball delegation was warmly welcomed in Peking's Capital Indeer Stadium on the evening of 15 May. The Chinese Physical Culture and Sports Commission held the ceremony and organised the friendly matches between the men's women's basketball teams of China and Yugoslavia.
Attending the ceremony and watching the matches were Li Yeh-sheng, Director of the General political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and Wang Mong, Minister of the Physical Culture and Sports Commission. Also present was Head of the Yugoslav Basketball Delegation and Vice-President of the Yugoslav Basketball Association, Cindric Zeljke. The Yugoslav Ambassador to China, Bogdan Orescanin, and his wife also witnessed the event.
The Women's match although close throughout, was eventually won by the Yugoslav team, 90-85.
The Yugoslav man's team, which had done well in several International contests, won its match by 114 to 82.
