Background: The 17th Asian Film Festival is taking place this year in Taipei. Its purpose is to choose Asia's best films, but film stars and show business personalities have been doing the things that normally only officials visitors do. On Sunday they went to the Martyr's Shrine on the outskirts of the capital to lay a wreath in memory of soldiers who died in fighting for Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek.
The opening of the festival took place int eh City Hall with each delegation parading before the audience. Participating this year were Hongkong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore Thailand, South Vietnam, the Philippines, the Khmer Republic and Taiwan.
