  • Description

Arab trade union leaders from the Untied Arab Republic, Lebanon, and Aden, met in Cairo, United Arab Republic, April 20, to discuss joint action as a reprisal against the boycott of the Eg Egyptian ship Cleopatra in New York.

The Cleopatra was picketed in support of a demand by American seamen's and dockers' unions for an end to the UAR's blacklisting of American ships which have traded with Israel.

The Egyptian newspaper Al Akhbar has alleged that Zionist influence in new York is responsible for the Cleopatra boycott.

As the Union meeting opened in Cairo, Syrian dockers began a retaliation boycott of four American ships in Syrian ports.
