    THE PRIME MINISTER OF SINGAPORE, MR. LEE KUAN YEW, ARRIVED IN THE NEW ZEALAND CITY OF AUCKLAND ON MARCH 6 TO BEGIN HIS ONE MONTH TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA.

    PREMIER LEE, WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE, WAS MET AT THE AIRPORT BY A HOST OF GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. THE MINISTER OF HOUSING, MR. J. RAE, REPRESENTED THE PRIME MINISTER OF NEW ZEALAND. WITH HIM WAS MR. D.A. JOHNSTON OF THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AND G.N. PARKINSON FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS.

    AT AN AIRPORT NEWS CONFERENCE, MR. LEE SAID PRESSURES ON PRESIDENT SUKARNO WITHIN INDONESIA COULD PREVENT A SETTLEMENT OF THE MALAYSIA-INDONESIA DISPUTE. HE SAID PRESIDENT SUKARNO HAD NOT OPPOSED THE COMMUNIST PARTY IN INDONESIA FOR MANY YEARS.

    MR. LEE IS IN NEW ZEALAND ON A NINE-DAY VISIT AT THE INVITATION OF THE NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT. HE WILL EXPLAIN THE DIFFICULTIES FACING THE NEWLY FORMED NATION OF MALAYSIA - BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL.
