  • Description

An international air firing competition was initiated this year by the NATO Headquarters of Allied Air Forces Central Europe (AIRCENT), located at Camp Guynemer, Fontainebleau. Through the courtesy of the French Air Force, the competition was held at the French Air Firing Range at Cazaux, south of Bordeaux, France.

Air interception teams from France, Great Britain, Canada, the Netherlands and Belgium vie for the "Guynemer Trophy", a silver cup whose design was inspired by one of Dassault's latest jets, the Mirage 3A.

General Leon V. Johnson, U. S. Air Force, Air Deputy at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, accepts the trophy from M. Valliers, Dassault representative, and presents the award to the Captain of the winning Royal Canadian Air Force Team. Individual plaques are given to the team members by Gen. Johnson.
