Background: INTRODUCTION: Soccer .. and Ghana drew 2-2 with Zaire at a home match in Accra on Wednesday (22 July). Ghana's equaliser came in the 56th minute. The two countries will now play the second leg of their tie in Kinshasa. The winner will contest the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Libya in March.
SYNOPSIS: The match had already been postponed once, after the Zaire team were late in arriving in Accra. This time there was no hitch, and the match got off to a good start. Ghana, playing in white, began to attack but soon Zaire hit back.
But it was no goal.
Zaire got its chance in the sixth minute.
The scorer was number 10, Mukendi.
At half time, it was Zaire ahead 1-0. But Ghana fought back. The home team's first goal came in the 49th minute.
The scorer was number 11, Kumi.
But in the 55th minute, it was once again the turn of Zaire. After a bugled defence by Ghana, Zaire scored.
