Background: Eighty-three-year-old Sir Winston Churchill, looking fit and cheerful, presided at yesterday's meeting in London of the Churchill Trust. This is the fund raised by public subscription to pay tribute to the service of the former British Prime Minister and wartime leader. Recently, plans were announced to spend some of the fund in founding a Churchill College of science at Cambridge University.
Yesterday's meeting, at Sir Winston's London home in Hyde Park Gate, was attended by a distinguished group of committee members, including Viscount Chandos, Lord Tedder, Lord Adrian, Lord Godber, Lord Knollys, Sir Alexander Fleck, Sir Alexander Todd, and Mr. J.R. Colville.
After walking in the garden, the group began its meeting indoors.
