  • Description

US Moscow Embassy Security Officer, Russell Langelle, arrived at Schipol Airport, Holland, Oct. 19, after his recall from USSR at the insistence of the Soviet Government.

He told reporters little that wasn't already known about the accusations of spying levelled against him. He said: "I can say that reports from Washington contain all the details of the incident."
His interrogation by Soviet security police on Oct. 16 was tough and lasted two hours. He was asked to serve the Soviet secret police.

With Russell Langelle was his wife and three children - two girls and a boy. For 20 months he had been in charge of Embassy staff security and protection and responsible for security of secret documents.

He was arrested, so the USSR Government statement said, aboard a Moscow but after he had passed over a thousand pounds sterling to and received note books from a Soviet citizen spying for USA.

The Langelle family will stay in Amsterdam until further instructions are received from Washington State Department.
