  • Description

SOUTH VIETNAM GOT ITS SECOND NEW POLITICAL PARTY YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY). NAMED THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC FORCE, IT CONSISTS OF LITTLE-KNOW BUT OBVIOUSLY SOUNDLY-BACKED POLITICIANS. ThEY HAVE PLEDGED THEMSELVES TO FIGHT AGAINST COMMUNISM AND FOR DEMOCRACY.

ONE THOUSAND DELEGATES AND GUESTS ATTENDED THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY HELD IN A SAIGON CINEMA.

THE PARTY, HEADED BY A JOURNALIST, NGO UNG TAI, IS AN ALLIANCE OF PROMINENT POLITICAL PERSONALITIES OUTSIDE THE GOVERNMENT AND HEADED BY POWERFUL SENATOR TRAN VAN DON, WHO LED THE COUP AGAINST PRESIDENT NGO DINH IN 1963.

THE PARTY AIMS TO BECOME AN ACTIVE PART OF THE DEMOCRATIC AND POLITICAL SPHERE.... EITHER IN THE POSITION OF THE GOVERNMENT PARTY OR THE OPPOSITE ONE.

ITS FORMATION FOLLOWS ESTABLISHMENT DURING THE CRISIS BROUGHT BY THE VIETCONG TET OFFENSIVE OF THE SO-CALLED NATIONAL SALVATION FRONT WHICH DIRECTLY SUPPORTS VICE PRESIDENT NGUYEN CAO KY.
