  • Description

A conference organised by the European Broadcasting Union opened in Paris today (Wednesday) to exchange information and study research on the function of educational radio and television. About 450 delegates representing 82 countries will spend two weeks at the conference.

In a message to the conference, its chairman, M. Jacques-Bernard Dupont, says it must enquire deeper into educational radio and television which, he adds, is a recent discovery.

He said delegates must reflect on its consequences and mould its future.

The conference will study problems related to "open circuit" radio and television educational programmes -- those going direct to the public.

The work of the conference also will include study of the problems raised by educational radio and television in all countries, particularly in developing countries.

This is the third international conference organised by the European Broadcasting Union to study these problems. The previous one was in Tokyo in 1964.
