SYNOPSIS: The bomb went off north of the capital in the Mediterranean seaside resort town of Natanya, Glass shop fronts were shattered...and a 70-year-old man, who was standing near the bomb when it went off, was killed immediately. Another person died later and two others were injured...one of them seriously. A bomb squad officer managed to dig out fragments of the bomb from an ornamental tree...the bomb had been placed alongside it on the pavement. The area was sealed off by police after the explosion...which blew out windows of shops and a car showroom within a 500-yard (metre) radius. A special police unit was immediately set up to investigate the bombing, and police said they thought it was the work of Arab guerrillas. Later it was revealed that seven suspects had been arrested.
