    AN AIR FORCE GUARD OF HONOUR SALUTED HER ARRIVAL AND THE PRINCESS' STANDARD WAS BROKEN OUT.

    A CROWD OF ABOUT 4,000 AT THE FAIRBAIRN AIR BASE SAW PRINCESS MARINA STEP OFF THE AIRCRAFT TO BE WELCOMED BY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL, LORD DE L'ISLE, THE PRIME MINISTER, SIR ROBERT MENZIES, AND DAME PATTI MENZIES.

    A TROOP FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE, FIRED A 21-GUN SALUTE TO MARK HER ARRIVAL. THEN FOLLOWED THE ROYAL SALUTE FROM THE GUARD OF HONOUR.

    AFTER THE COLOURFUL AND FORMAL WELCOME, THE INSPECTION OF THE GUARD AND A MORE INFORMAL NOTE. SHE PAUSED OFTEN TO TALK WITH MEMBERS OF THE GUARD OF HONOUR.

    PRINCESS MARINA BROKE AWAY FROM HER SCHEDULED TO TALK TO CHILDREN AMONG THE CROWD PRESSED AGAINST THE BARRIERS.

    LATER, ON THE DRIVE TO GOVERNMENT HOUSE, PRINCESS MARINA'S CAR STOPPED 30 TIMES TO ALLOW THE PRINCESS TO TALK TO LOCAL PEOPLE.
