  • Description

Skiing enthusiasts are having one of their best ever seasons in Australia's Snowy Mountains -- where the lack of good snow sometimes disappoints.

The latest Benson and Hedges competition at Perisher Valle brought out the best in the stunt skiing section in particular.

Hundreds of spectators were entertained with some superb individual and combination efforts, even though some of the tricks went a little astray.

One routine set a new Australian record -- seven skiers linked in a back layout which had the snow bunnies and cowboys roaring approval.

The mogul run was again exciting, with overall winner Randy Weiman, who instructs in the Snowy, edging out top international Jackie Stump, of Switzerland.

Weiman finished second in the bumps and first in the ballet sections-- and, with a clear win in the aerials, was assured of outright victory.

Running hot on the heels of the winners was Joe Kellie, who went through some dangerous and breathtaking flip routines.

Weiman's win was his second in two weeks. He took out top honours at the recent Thredbo meeting.
