    A NEW FILTERING AND BOTTLING PLANT FOR ZAMBIA BREWERIES WILL START PRODUCTION IN SEPTEMBER. THE PLANT, PART OF WHICH WAS OPENED RECENTLY IN LUSAKA, WILL PROCESS IMMATURE BEER FROM NDOLA.

    THE WHOLE PROJECT COST GBP1.5-MILLION AND IT'S EXPECTED THAT BY MARCH NEXT YEAR THE ENTIRE PROCESS WILL BE HANDLED IN LUSAKA.

    AT PRESENT, SPECIAL RAILWAY TANKERS BRING THE BEER TO THE CAPITAL FROM NDOLA. IN LUSAKA, IT'S CHANNELLED INTO 64 TANKS, EACH HOLDING NEARLY 8,000 GALLONS (36,000 LITRES) OF BEER.

    THE BOILER SECTION AT THE NEW PLANT WILL COST GBP70,000. THERE WILL BE TWO ELECTRODE BOILERS EACH PRODUCING TEN TIMES AS MUCH STEAM FROM EACH POUND (KILO) OF WATER.
