    Though no details ware released of the Benn negotiations, informed sources said trade headed the agenda. West Germany is Japan's biggest trade partner in Europe, and Japan is West Germany's largest customer in Asia. But there is an imbalance of trade in Japan's favor and the Germans were expected to seek to have this rectified, Mr. Tanaka has said the hoped his tour of the three European capitals would prove a turning point in his country's relations with the European Community. Chancellor Brandt was said by observers to be keen to discuss the future tripartite political partnership of the United States, Western Europe and Japan.

    One Sunday, Mr. Tanaka files on to Moscow for talks with Soviet leaders.

    SYNOPSIS: Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka flew into Bonn on Thursday. His helicopter landed in the grounds of the Palais Schaumburg, the official residence of Chancellor Willy Brandt, who was there to greet him on arrival. Mr. Tanaka was spending four days in West Germany, after visits to France and the United Kingdom. He said he hoped this tour would prove a turning point in Japan's relations with the European community.

    With Herr Brandt, he launched into a five-hour session of intensive political consultations. Though no details were available, informed sources said trade would top the agenda. The two countries are each other's biggest customers on their respective continents.

    But there is an imbalance of trade in Japan's favor and West Germany was expected to seek its rectification. The two leaders would also discuss the currency crisis and liberalization of world trade.

    Herr Brandt was said t be keen to raise the future political partnership between Western Europe, Japan and the United States. Mr. Tanaka files to Moscow on Sunday for talks with Soviet leaders.
