    Law students from West Africa have taken part in a five-day conference in Ghana to discuss the role of lawyers in the region and the importance of law in the economic development of their countries. The conference at the University of Ghana was opened on Thursday (23 September) by the Chief Justice of Ghana, Mr. Samuel Azu-Crabbe.

    SYNOPSIS: The conference was arranged by the University's Law Students' Union with participants coming from Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria and Ghana.

    Mr. Azu-Crabbe emphasised that modern lawyers must be concerned with wider issues than the law itself. He outlined what he saw as a major problem....the divisions between rich and poor countries.
