IT WAS THE FIRST SHIPMENT COLLECTED BY A NATIONWIDE COUPON CAMPAIGN. THE PETROL WAS TO HAVE BEEN PRESENTED TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE RHODESIAN REGIME.

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE ORGANISATION WHICH COLLECTED THE PETROL SAID IT WAS HOPED TO BE ABLE TO GET PETROL INTO RHODESIA AT A COST OF ABOUT 40 CENTS (FIVE SHILLINGS STG.) A GALLON.

ANOTHER CONSIGNMENT OF PETROL FOR RHODESIA LEFT BY ROAD FROM STELLENBOSCH, IN THE CAPE PROVINCE, ON THURSDAY. THE PETROL WAS COLLECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF STELLENBOSCH AND AN ORGANISATION KNOWN AS THE CANDOUR LEAGUE OF SOUTH AFRICA.
