Millions of people in Australia and New Zealand have been commemorating Anzac Day - the forth-fifth anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in the First World War.

SYNOPSIS: The Prime Ministers of both countries, Mr. Menzies and Mr. Nash, paid their tributes in London by laying wreaths at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. They're both in this country for the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' conference which opens on May the third.

Similar ceremonies of remembrance are being held throughout Australia and New Zealand. And after the wrath laying, the Last Post was sounded...

Representatives of all the Services and the Australian States were present at the ceremony. Later the two Prime Ministers read lessons at a service in Westminster Abbey.
