TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: M. Bassam: " The PFLP is completely responsible for the hostages. We will treat them in the same way their governments treat our own prisoners. PFLP warns that any stupid intervention to free the hostages will only endanger their lives. Concerning our demands and conditions: Our demands and conditions are very clear and we will not go back on them no matter what happens. These conditions are a) the release and arrival to a safe place of our three prisoners in Switzerland in exchange for the Swiss hostages b) the release of our three prisoners (and also their arrival to a safe place ) in West Germany in exchange for the German hostages c) the release of Comrade Leila Khaled and the martyr's body and their arrival to a safe place in exchange for the British hostages d) to have Israel announce in principle her acceptance of the release of first the Swiss Comrade taken as a prisoner in Haifa because as they say he is a PFLP member, second the two Algerian citizens who were captured last month, third the ten Lebanese soldiers taken as prisoners from the southern part of Lebanon, fourth the exchange of prisoners with the Palestinian Revolution. Only then PFLP would hand in a list of the names. We want them out of prison in return for the Israelis and the bearers of the American-Israeli dual citizenship. It was proved beyond doubt that the International Red Cross did not play the neutral role it should have played. The International tried to gain time for the benefit of the imperialist countries. Therefore we consider that the responsibility lies directly on the governments concerned and that these government should announce directly to the PFLP their acceptance to our conditions."
