Background: At a brief, but picturesque ceremony this afternoon, President Jomo Kenyatta opened the third session of the East African Legislative Assembly. Large crowds gathered outside the Kenya Parliament where the opening was to take place, and a guard of honour of the 1st Bat Kenya Rifles, with the band of the Armed Services in attendance. The President inspected the guard of honour before being introduced to leading members of the assembly who were lined up outside the parliament, these included Mr. H.E. Sarwatt, chairman of the EALA, Mr. Raymond Wasiki, Clerk to the Assembly, and Mr. Musa Amalemba, General Manager of East African Airways. The Assembly is due to sit for two weeks and this afternoons ceremony was confined to the official opening.
(This isn't a strong story, but as I was shipping the Thomson Kenyatta story I thought it may be used as a 'padder')
