  • Description

Amman is returning to normality as the Jordanian military and government authorities and the Palestinian revolutionaries make peace again after a renewed outbreak of fighting in the city. Arms surrendered to the authorities on both sides are being collected for storage in official arsenals.

The agreement reached yesterday (14 January) between the Jordanians and the Palestinians is designed, according to Amman Radio, to put an end to the recurrent clashes between the two sides. It provides for freedom of movement for the Palestinian revolutionaries, the release of all detainees on both sides and the cessation of propaganda campaigns against each other.

The arms carried by Palestinian "commando" groups will be surrendered to the revolutionary leaders; the arms borne by the Bedouin Popular Resistance Forces will be surrendered to the Jordanian Army.
