Reporter: "What was it about last Thursday's telephone threat that made you take ti seriously?"

Arvesen; "Because it was more specific than the first one. The call that we received last Thursday was specific to the extent that the one who called said that unless the two Israeli citizens new in prison in Norway are being released, some terrorist actions will be taken against your people or against Norwegian institutions throughout the Untied States.

Reporter: "What about last Friday's call?"

Arvesen: "Last Friday's call was received by the Vice Consulate at the Consul General. And that was also specific in as much as the same thing was mentioned, that unless the two Israeli citizens in Norway are being released immediately your Consulate General is in great danger."

Reporter: "Are you taking this very seriously new?"

Arvesen: "Well you have to take it seriously in a way. I mean we are somewhat concerned because w e never knew really whether such extremist people which must have made these two phone calls really mean these two threats seriously. We don't know that but we can't just overlook them or pretend that they don't exist."

Background: The Norwegian Foreign Ministry in Oslo confirmed on Tuesday (August 14) their delegation to the United Nations has been threatened with reprisals unless Norway releases two Israelis charged with complicity in the murder of a Moroccan living in Norway.

The Oslo daily newspaper "Dagbladet" said the threats had come from groups which claimed to have Jewish connections.

The internal security police at the United Nations headquarters were put on alert last Thursday (August 9) following telephoned threats.

Two Israelis were arrested with four other people following the murder on July 21, of Ahmed Bouchiki at Lillehammer north of Oslo. The Moroccan was alleged to have had connections with the Black September Organisation. But reports have also said that impressions that he might have been a Palestinian agent were mistaken.

The two Israelis were arrested in the apartment of Yigal Eyal, Security Officer of the Israeli Embassy in Oslo.

On Tuesday (August 14) the Norwegian Government announced the expulsion of the security officer from Norway.

In New York on Tuesday the Norwegian Charge D'Affaires, Jan Arvesen spoke to TVN reporter Jeff Kamer about the threat of reprisals.
