    INVITATIONS TO SEVERAL PLACES HAD BEEN CANCELLED WHEN NEWS HAD BEEN RECEIVED IN AMERICA OF THE ARREST OF PROFESSOR FREDERICK BARGHOORN, THE YALE UNIVERSITY EXPERT ON SOVIET AFFAIRS, WHILE ON A SIMILAR CULTURAL VISIT TO RUSSIA.WHEN NEWS CAME OF THE PROFESSOR'S SUBSEQUENT RELEASE, THE SPOKESMAN SAID THAT AMERICANS HAD TOLD THEM THAT A GENEROUS WELCOME AWAITED THE MISSION IF THE TOUR WAS CONTINUED.

    THE LEADER OF THE SOVIET DELEGATION, PROFESSOR NIKOLAI BLOKHIN, WHO IS PRESIDENT OF THE SOVIET ACADEMY OF MEDICINE, INSISTED THAT THE BARGHOORN INCIDENT SHOULD NOT BE PERMITTED TO INTERFERE WITH THE IMPROVEMENT IN U.S.-U.S.S.R.RELATIONS.
