  • Description

The Jury whose duty it was to choose the model for a Memorial monument to the victims who lost their lives in the Aushwitz concentration camp met for the third time in Rome on the 21st & 22nd of this month. The meetings took place in the halls which were given for the purpose by the local Modern Art Gallery.

The Jury examined four projects which were presented by Andrea Cascella, Pietro Cascella, Periole Fazzini, Oscar Hansen, Jerzy Jarnuckiewicz, Julio Lafuente, Julian Palka, Giorgio Simoncini, Tomaso Valle and Maurizio Vitale. These architects and soul potors collaborated with one another on the four projects.

The project No 1 was chosen and considered as the most consonant to the idxa it is to commemorate. The jury also asked for some changes.

In the scene the group is seated in a semicircle and the components of the group are as follows from left to right: PALKA, JARNUSKIEWICZ, HANSEN, LAFUENTE, FAZZINI, CASCELLA (Piatro), SIMONCINI, VITALE.

Before the work will be started on the monument itself a show of the material inherent to the monument (which I covered in the present story) is to be held in Rome during the coming week.
