  • Description

The High Speed Air-Sea Rescue Launches of the Royal Air Force won wartime fame, when they rescued nearly 6000 ditched airmen from the sea in Home Waters alone. Today, they still provide an essential rescue service overseas, although at home their task in this field has largely been taken over by the helicopter. Their other duties now include target towing for tactical aircraft, and the training of aircrew in dinghy and survival drill.
