    The Special Committee on Apartheid, set up by the United Nations General Assembly met in the Republic of Ireland for a special session on Monday (20 May). The session was one of four that have been scheduled in European cities, in an effort to create wider public awarenmess of the problem of apartheid and of the efforts of the United Nations against it.

    At Monday's meeting in Dublin, the Irish capital, the Chairman of the 16-member Committee, Edwin Ogbe Ogbe of Nigeria, welcomed the Irish contribution to the fight against racial discrimination.

    Dr. Garrett Fitzgerald, the Irsih Minister of Foreign Affairs, was one of the guests at the Dublin sessoin. Representatives of civil rights groups, anti-apartheid groups, trade unions and students were also invited.

    The Committee is to meet in Rome, Berlin and Geneva later in the month.
