    The Kuwaiti Defence Minister, Sheik Saad Al Abudullah Al Sabah, says his country will continue to spend vast amounts of money on arming his country's fighting forces. Although the exact amount involved was not revealed, it's thought the order of expenditure could run into millions of pounds. Sheik Saad also says Kuwait would commit its armed forces to the Arab cause in any future conflict against Israel. this report from the BBC's Panorama reporter, David Taylor.

    Vosper Thorny-croft is a British company that designs and builds warships that range in size from patrol boats to frigates.

    A spokesman for the company says the Kuwaiti deal is still under negotiation but if it is finalised it could involve a transaction of more than GBP100-million (about US 172-million dollars).

    The deal involves selling patrol boats to the Kuwaiti Government but the company spokesman declined to nominate how many boats were involved.
