Background: United Arab Republic President Nasser - on the second day of a six-day visit to Pakistan - visited the grave of Pakistan's founder, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, in Karachi, Apr 11. Accompanying him was Pakistan's Rehabilitation Minister, Lt. General Azam Khan and Education Minister, Hafiz-Ur-Rahman. They observed two minutes silence at the tomb.
Later, President Nasser was accompanied by Pakistani President Mohammad Ayub Khan, on a tour of Karachi ship-yard where he was introduced to officials and visited various sections of the works.
The visit marks the first meeting of the two soldier-Presidents. After talks, Apr 12, President Nasser takes leave of his host to fly 1000 miles across India to East Pakistan to visit Dacca. Apr 14 he again flies over Northern India - in the opposite direction - to visit Lahore in West Punjab, Pakistan's North-east province; and Apr 15 he will fly to Peshawar in Pakistan's North-west Frontier Province. The President is due to leave for Cairo Apr 16.
